The University at Albany is a diverse community that includes students and faculty from all over the world, representing 100 nationalities and a wide array of cultures and religions. UAlbany's Office of Diversity and Inclusion helps provide a variety of diversity-related resources. UAlbany is also home to a Gender and Sexuality Resource Center, several cultural clubs and organizations as well as services for international students. The Gender and Sexuality Resource Center (GSRC), located on the third floor of the Campus Center in room 329, is a safe space for all students to engage in dialogue around the intersections of Gender & Sexuality on our campus and in our society. Core to the mission of the GSRC is providing Community, Pride and Empowerment for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Pansexual, Asexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ*) spectrum students and their allies. The center is dedicated to improving the quality of life for all LGBTQ* persons at UAlbany. The GSRC enhances the University commitment to social justice and diversity by supporting students of all backgrounds and cultural identities and is a valuable source of support and networking for students, faculty and staff.

Overall Campus Pride Index Score
The Campus Pride Index has a strong theoretical research foundation in LGBTQ current programs, practices and policies for safer, more inclusive campus learning environments. The index tool has been tested extensively since 2001 and recently updated with new, higher LGBTQ national benchmarks in 2015.
The Campus Pride Index is a vital tool for assisting campuses in learning ways to improve their LGBTQ campus life and ultimately shape the educational experience to be more inclusive, welcoming and respectful of LGBTQ and ally people. The index is owned and operated by Campus Pride, the leading national nonprofit organization for student leaders and campus groups working to create safer, more LGBTQ-Friendly learning environments at colleges and universities. Campus Pride commends the campuses participating in the index and their willingness to come out, be visible and actively advocate for improving higher education for LGBTQ people.
